Babu Saffy

Greetings my fine friends.  Oh how time has been flying.  I'll not be having time to sit down for my regular Chicken Korma at this rate.  Needless to be saying that my life has changed in so many ways since coming to your very nice country and working with those guys from Hoolabooloo.

So here come my words of wisdom for this month of July.

Central concepts.  Soft cuts.

Yes, I am being very excited by these at first, very, very strange words.  But, when I get back home with this new found mastery, Bollywood will be parading me down the streets!  So, I guess you would be wanting to know what I am talking about?

Central concepts.  Very easy.  Put the person in the middle of the frame.  What a joyous thing to be seeing.  Here I was all these years, framing out their heads, putting them on the left, on the right and wondering why people did not like my movies.  Then these guys at Holaaballon told me of a director who used to just be saying, central concepts on that shot.  My life has being changed!

Soft cuts.  Did you know that you can make one shot dissolve into another?  I did not.  I have very special software built by my brother in law back in India.  It only runs on a Mac Classic.  Very special.  It only does cuts, nothing else.  But after being talking about these 'soft cuts' with my friends from Huulaabooloob, a new world has opened up to me.  I was straight away on the phone to my brother in law.  He was busy making a Vindaloo at the time and nearly dropped his spoon with the news.  He will be being very busy this week making version 2.0 of my software.

So, thank you Australia, thank you Huuoolabbaloom for your words of wisdom.  Look out Bollywood, I'm being on the way back home soon.  I just need a few more techniques to be making my very first feature.

People in the frame so you can see their mouths.  Who would have thought such a thing.  What a crazy country you are being in....
